What is a School Council?
The United Convention on the rights of the Child (UNCRC) Article 12 states that “Children have the right to say what they think should happen, when adults are making decisions that affect them, and to have their opinions taken into account” One way schools do this is by having a School Council which encourages children and young people to have a say in developments within school as well as in the local community. It also provides a forum to voice any ideas, opinions or concerns about what is happening for them.
