Epilepsy Specialist Nurse Service and Advice Line
Claire Wilson (Epilepsy Nurse Consultant), Karen McLeod (Epilepsy Specialist Nurse) and Claire Madden (Epilepsy Liaison Sister) are the epilepsy nurses (adult) based at The James Cook University Hospital.
People with epilepsy, their families and carers can access this service if they are under the care of one of the consultant neurologists within the trust. We also offer help and advice to health care professionals.
We can provide help, advice, support and information on the following topics:

- Contraception, pre-conception and pregnancy

- Benefits and insurance
- Education and training

The advice line is open between the hours of 9.30am and 12.30pm Monday to Thursday, except on bank holidays. If we are unavailable to take your call during these hours, please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible or within two working days. There is no facility to leave a message outside of these hours. On rare occasions the advice line may not be available. If you require assistance at these times, please contact your GP or out of hours centre.
