Early Years SEND Practitioner Support (EYSP)
SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) in the early years refers to support children and young people who have learning difficulties or disabilities.
Early Years Importance:
- Recognising SEND in early childhood is crucial because these are formative years when children are impressionable and start to develop.
- Early identification of signs and symptoms is key to providing timely support for children with SEND.
- As an early years practitioner, being alert and aware of difficulties some children may face related to SEND allows you to respond to concerns promptly and assist in their support.
Special Educational Provision:
- For children aged two or more, special educational provision means access to education that is additional to or different from what other same-age children receive.
- If a child is under two years old, special educational provision refers to any kind of educational support.
In summary, SEND support aims to provide tailored assistance to children with learning difficulties or disabilities, ensuring they receive the best possible education regardless of their needs.
